Dr. Alice S. Kim is a full-time optometrist at DePoe Eye Center, seeing patients at our Stockbridge and Downtown McDonough locations. She is passionate about building lasting relationships with her patients while helping them protect one of life's greatest gifts—their vision.
A Georgia native, Dr. Kim grew up in Alpharetta before earning her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). During her time at the UAB School of Optometry, she served as class president throughout all four years and conducted translational research focused on dry eye syndrome and other ocular surface disorders.
Following graduation, Dr. Kim completed a residency in Ocular Disease at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, consistently recognized as one of the nation's leading eye hospitals. There, she gained extensive experience diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and complex eye conditions within a high-volume, multidisciplinary medical setting.
Her clinical interests include ocular disease, optic nerve disorders, vitreoretinal conditions, and comprehensive medical eye care. She also enjoys mentoring future eye care professionals by developing engaging educational experiences for residents and students.
Before joining DePoe Eye Center, Dr. Kim was selected as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow, where she led community-based eye care initiatives and helped expand access to vision care for underserved individuals through nonprofit outreach programs.
What Dr. Kim appreciates most about DePoe Eye Center is its unwavering commitment to patient-centered care and the welcoming environment created by both the team and the patients they serve. She believes every patient deserves to feel heard, understood, and confident in the care they receive.
Outside the office, Dr. Kim enjoys practicing hot yoga, discovering great live music, especially disco house and funk, and searching for the perfect espresso. She also enjoys exploring new restaurants, hiking, camping, and spending quality time with her fiancé.
